How to care for your byfreer wardrobe

We believe in effortless style, which is why we've made sure that our garments are easy to care for and perfect for your on-the-go lifestyle.

How to care for your silk

wash

your byfreer silk garment has already been washed. this means that when you wash it in the same method as we do it will not shrink or change. machine wash your silk on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. naturally, it can be hand washed too.

stains

spray with pre-wash spray and then put into the wash. if you have a persistent stain or a heavy oil stain it can be dry-cleaned or contact us for support (we do have a couple of magic tricks). DO NOT RUB silk in one spot this will mark the silk.

dry

roll in a towel to remove excess water then hang on a coat hanger to dry.

pressing

drying on a hanger will remove most creases. if you would like your byfreer to look perfect you can iron it inside out.

How to care for your velvet

wear

velvet doesn't need to be washed after every single wear. when the pile gets flat and shiny it is a good time to wash.

wash

you can put your velvet in the washing machine and wash on a gentle cycle.

dry

we recommend to put your velvet in the dryer for 30-50 minutes as this fluffs up the pile of the velvet. it can then be hung on a coat hanger to finish drying. if no dryer is available you can just coat hanger dry, it will have a slightly more crushed look.

maintenance

rain drops flatten the pile-this is resolved by washing. any stains can be sprayed with pre-wash spray and then put into the wash.

How to care for your cashmere

wear

the nature of cashmere yarns are the self-cleaning properties. brushing off dirt with a dab of water or airing the garment 2-3 days is often sufficient. spot cleaning is also a viable option.

wash

handwash your knitwear in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent. squeeze and swish your knit for a few minutes. to rinse, repeat in clean lukewarm water.

dry

the best method is to lay the knit flat on a towel, roll it up and sit or kneel on it to absorb as much moisture as possible. lie flat and check the shape of your knit. it can be pulled slightly into shape if needed. lay flat to dry.

maintenance

a little love goes a long way. every now and then a quick brush with a sweater stone or pulling comb will keep your knit like new.
