    viscose variety

    viscose variety

when it comes to fabrics we’re really fussy about what we wear and what we use at byfreer.

we like fabrics that look good, work hard and take minimal effort for maintenance. (isn’t that a philosophy for life?)

alongside our silks and cottons, viscose is a favourite at byfreer.

our crepe georgette has the perfect amount of weight to drape and flatter, but not cling to, everywoman’s body..

viscose is often labelled dry clean only because of shrinkage, but we remove this problem for you by twice washing our items - once before and once after sewing the garment. like everything else we create, our viscose is totally easy care and can be washed then dried on the line - giving you more time to sit and relax with that vodka martini.

byfreer designer Lesley, works closely with our maker to come up with new unique looks that work with the quirkiness of the fabric and says “I really enjoy playing around with fabrics when I design. with viscose I noticed the selvedge edge and it appealed to me, so I decided to make a feature of the fraying and incorporate it into the design of the garment. some of the sleeves, hems and inserts have frayed edges utilising the natural selvedge of the fabric. its also gives my garments that rough luxe feel that I like so much”

our viscose garments are great for travelling as they can be hand washed, and hung to dry quickly, most creases fall away and items like the dream tee with a classic deep v neck, frayed hem and contrast details, go well with everything.

    leopard print

    leopard print

when we decided to venture into the print realm this season, there was only one choice - leopard all the way...

leopard print has stood the fashion test-of-time and the list of fashionable icons who have embraced leopard is endless. from kate moss and anna wintour to dita von teese and jackie kennedy.

diana vreeland once said “Ive never met a leopard print I didn't like” and we definitely concur.

and leopard print, of course, has its own claim to the rock’n’roll hall of fame with prince, kurt cobain and blondie all embracing their wild side in leopard pants, dresses, coats and scarves.

as you've probably guessed, here at byfreer, we've added our own original twist, with our original leopard print design mixed back with classic grey marle cotton jersey as trim on our silk georgette leopard tees. we’ve also added leopard silk crepe de chine pants into the mix.

lesley says “one of my favourite colour combinations is grey and caramel. I’ve loved that combo for years and it looks perfect in this top that’s so easy to wear.”

a byfreer trademark is our unexpected detailing and the juxtaposition of different fabrics and textures. now we’re mixing it up with leopard. says lesley “leopard never really goes out of style - its always there bubbling away and I do agree with style maven jenna lyons (j crew, project runway) who once declared that leopard is a neutral.”

permission to mix it up ladies!

    do you know french terry?

    do you know french terry?

french terry is about to become your new best friend.
the go-to friend.a reliable friend that's always there when things are heating up…
    or cooling down.

when its too hot for a woollen jumper and too cold for a tee shirt, it’s french terry to the rescue! this natural, breathable fabric with a soft touch keeps you warm without making you too hot. and in warmer weather, french terry feels smooth and cool against the skin.

at byfreer we think french terry is ideal for this time of year and the constantly changing,
four-seasons-in-one-day weather we are having. sunny skies or a cool breeze don't deter this fabric. french terry is adaptable, super comfy and great for layering. its lighter than a sweatshirt but heavier than a tee.
technically, french terry is a knitted terry cloth fabric featuring loops and soft piles of yarn on one side, and a smooth, soft surface on the other side.

the result is an absorbent, light-weight, moisture-wicking material that’s super comfortable to wear any day of the year.
our french terry is made from 100% cotton and to make things a bit more interesting our bomber jacket and shift dress mix the french terry with sheer georgette sleeves, keeping the body warm and the arms covered, but oh so chic!

french terry available in khaki, dusty pink, white, grey.

    luxe velvet

    luxe velvet

if you’ve been a fan of the  by freer brand, you will know that the concept grew out of an idea for a tee shirt with a luxury twist.
as Lesley says “is there anything more luxurious than a basic teebeing elevated to the thing you love most in your wardrobe?”

in addition to silks, now we are offering the basic tee in VELVET an unexpected fabric that immediately feels and looks luxe.
velvet works dressed up or down : with denim jeans or a tuxedo jacket the "velly tee” [pictured here] is a piece you will wear again and again.

iridescent colours offered include blue, green, white and black.
pops of neon - a by freer signature, add unexpected colour
and playfulness to some of the styles.

styles include a round or V- neck, short or longer raglan sleeve.
this top works equally well with your boyfriend jeans, suit pants and under a coat, jacket or long line cardigan.
